Your online safety is important.
The NDIS has shared a warning that some people have been tricked by scammers. These scammers have used fake emails, text messages, and phone calls to steal myGov login details. They then used this information to access some NDIS accounts.
What is the NDIA doing?
The NDIA is adding extra security to help protect NDIS accounts.
If they believe someone has accessed your myGov account without your permission, they will contact you.
How can you protect yourself?
Here are some simple ways to keep your information safe:
- Check your NDIS account regularly for anything that doesn’t look right.
- Keep an eye on your NDIS funding and make sure you recognise all services and payments.
- Check your bank account for any unexpected transactions.
- Be careful of emails, text messages, or phone calls asking for your personal information.
- Don’t click on links in messages if you are unsure who sent them.
- Never share your passwords, security codes, or personal details with someone you don’t know or trust.
- Remember: The NDIS will never ask for your personal information by text message (SMS).
- Change your passwords regularly and use multi-factor authentication (MFA) if you can. This adds an extra layer of security to your account.
- Learn how to recognise scams so you know what to look out for.
