The Recruitment Process (What to expect)

Our careers page provides information about our current vacancies and if we are recruiting to a program that requires specific skills, training or attributes, this will be clearly outlined.

It is important that you review our vacancy information for any role specific requirements.

We shortlist applicants who sound like a good fit for Omega and have the qualities, skills and attributes valued by our participants.

We review every application and shortlisting is based on:

  • Skills and any relevant experience
  • Relevant study or professional qualifications
  • Ability to meet role specific requirements
  • Availability

Invitation to Interview

If you are invited to interview, there are a few things you can do to be prepared:

  • Read the position description for the job you’re applying for.
  • If you are applying for a support worker role, the position description will give you good insight into the questions you may be asked.
  • During the interview, we might also ask you to share examples from your previous experience that will help us to determine your suitability.
  • Having an understanding of Omega, who we are and the work we do is an important part of the process.
  • We actively encourage you to ask questions.
  • Let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements.

References

  • We complete reference checks as part of the recruitment process and we will ask you to provide contact details for 2 professional referees.
  • Ideally, referees should be your current or prior line manager
  • It is preferred that a contact phone number and email address are provided. Please avoid personal email addresses (such as Gmail or Outlook) where possible.
  • Contact your referees and let them know you have an interview.
  • Ensure you have confirmed the correct contact details for your referees. Following up references can delay the employment process for successful candidates.
  • If you are unable to provide details of a recent line manager, it is important that you speak with us. We will endeavour to work with you regarding a suitable contact.

Mandatory Safety Screening

  • All Omega staff are required to hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • You don’t need this to apply or to participate in an interview, but if you’re successful, you will need the screening check prior to commencing any shifts.
  • Any staff supporting a participant under the age of 18 years will be required to hold a Working With Children Check.
  • The cost of safety screening checks are the responsibility of the applicant

If You Are Successful

  • After completing your interview and reference checks, we meet as a team to confirm the people would like to offer a position to.
  • We will contact you to confirm the outcome and to discuss details of your role, including hours of work and commencement date.
  • We will ask you to provide:
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check number
  • Evidence of VISA status/right to work (if applicable)
  • Copy of your current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Evidence of 3rd Party car insurance
  • Copies of relevant qualifications, including transcripts
  • Working with Children check (if applicable)
  • Once we receive all requested documents and information, we will prepare your Contract of Employment
  • If you are unsuccessful, we will contact you to confirm the interview outcome.
